31/365: Noah Webster MADE me do it!

On Saturday, I bought this dictionary for $2.50. Ok, actually my mom bought it for me...and it's changed my crafting FOREVER. I've been addicted at looking for the perfect book, looking at sweet and awesome dictionary book page crafts and dreaming of making some for a while. Now I can. Probably won't need another book for craft for a looooong time. I added a few of the things I've been making along with a pair of cheetah shoes from Target (of course). I like this pair of shoes so much that I actually have 2 identical pairs (I have quite a few multiples in my shoe collection...when I find something I like, I buy another!)

30/365: Airport Love Shack

Had to run to the airport (and when I say run, I in no way mean it's near me), to pick up my Nanny (that's my grandmother for you non-Nanny types). While waiting for her to arrive I got a sweet and awesome cookie shaped like a "love shack" and I watched the Alaska Airlines planes sit and look pretty. The picture is crooked, has focus issues and strange colors, but I actually like it, reminds me that my sis will visit soon, and that cookies are tasty. mmm.

Wearing my FAVORITE flip-flops from J.Crew. They are very old, very worn and very comfortable. They are the basic J.Crew rubber on the bottom but then a FABULOUS green and pink tie material with gold tennis rackets. Preppy lust. I guess you could say, these are preppy love shack shoes.

28/365: Pillows

I love design. I love texture. I love the backgrounds I used for today's shoes, they are all pillows (click to enlarge).

27/365: Ruby Red

You've already seen these shoes...they're in my blog header. But they haven't had a day or a post yet! My ruby red Dorothy (movie version, for book version see here) slippers, up close and personal! Love these shoes. Love wearing them.

26/365: Soccer

Was in such a rush today that the cute polka dot ballet flats I wore to school got left under my desk as I rushed out of the building wearing my teacher shoes. So, today's picture is neither teach shoe nor shoes I wore, but instead a pair of shoes I had riding in my car with me. I thought that I might as well stop at the park and take a picture with this giant soccer ball. As the shoes are silly so should be the picture. The shoe felt like it was falling off and I arched my foot in a weird way to keep it from falling in the picture.

25/365: Teacher Needs a Workday

My desk is a huuuuuuge mess! At least my shoes are cute. Maybe on Monday, our grading day, I'll clean it and take a clean desk and shoe picture.

23/365: Championship Sunday

Admittedly, I am not a huge pro football fan. But, I will watch when it is on, and I will cheer for certain teams usually dependent on a host of factors that mean absolutely nothing in the eyes of serious football fans. I'm much more a college football fan than I am a pro ball kind of girl. That being said, today I cheered for the Packers and thus my cheese hat is out, as are my green chucks. I would have liked to see the Bears win too (one of my earliest football watching memories is of my dad and I watching the Bears win the 1985 Superbowl...I was just over 3 years old). I know that it's blasphemy to root for both the Bears and the Packers, as they are huge, huge HUGE rivals. But I have a cheese hat because I like cheese, and thus I have a Packers picture today. The cheese hat is at least 13 years old and has some visible tape holding part of it together.

22/365: On the Boardwalk

I had every intention of taking my computer to the beach with me so that I wouldn't miss a day. Excitedly, I hopped out of the car, snapped a photo and went to the house. Only to discover that I had left my computer all packed up and ready to go, in the kitchen... back home in the valley. phooey. Hey, I took the picture, that's what counts. Sunshine and 60 degrees at the beach in January?! Unheard of (that's like summer weather around here). Wearing my favorite pair of shoes to boot!

21/365: Target Aquired

My mom has been searching for the perfect shade of green flip-flops, for years. After previously purchasing many pairs in a shade one can only describe as "almost-perfect" this pair, from J.Crew is the perfect match. Tonight, they arrived in her mailbox.

20/365: Sick Day

I had planned on taking an outside picture today. But, I had also planned to be at work all day enjoying a job I love. Alas, I had to leave in the middle of the day because I did not feel well. I have spent the last 5 hours in bed, thus my picture is of my most glamorous pair of shoes, which also happen to be slippers, and it was taken while I was in bed...which I still am.

The Shoes: Juicy Couture slippers "Bunny" (faux-fur, of course)

19/365: The Moon

I love the moon. Really. I have loved the moon for as long as I can remember. I love the way it sparkles. I love the way it lights up the earth and you can walk around outside in the cold crisp air without lights and yet see everything around you. I have often tried to capture the amazing moon in photographs, but the moon is elusive, mysterious, and very difficult to capture in full greatness through a lens...especially a point and shoot lens.  Today's picture is a tribute to the glorious full moon we are experiencing tonight(by way of sparkling Pottery Barn lamp). First full moon of the new year. May it bring each and every one of you a basketful of happiness.

18/365: The Real Day 18

Note about yesterday's picture: Oh. my. goodness. I was apparently so excited for it to be Jan 18th, that I labeled yesterday's picture as 18/365! Whoops! Luckily, no one caught it before I did, and I caught it today and not on day 364. Wow.

Today's picture: Does anyone remember those t-shirts that people sliced up and added beads to? Well this rug at Crate & Barrel reminds me of those t-shirts (though despite any relationship to t-shirts this rug may have, it's still incredibly soft and luxurious). My friends and I marveled at the type of house a person would have to have in order to justify purchasing an all white, t-shirt material rug that you can't vacuum! I picture it in a room that no one ever goes into, very modern and chic, where all of the accents are mirrored and silver.

17/365: Ridiculous

Today I had to make a shoe return. Ugh. I didn't even take a picture, but they were a pair that I got home and looked at in the daylight and said, "What was I thinking?!"  My friend went with me and suggested I take a picture of a ridiculous pair of shoes she was trying on.   In the spirit of one of our favorite shopping games (grab the craziest outfits/accessories/shoes you can find, exchange your items with a friend..you have to try on what the person gave you, and come out of the dressing room so that they can see it). So, all of today's shoes are, in my opinion, a little crazy, especially the last pair: high heels with VELCRO!? Say what? That's tacky.

16/365: Puddle Jumping

Today it rained buckets. In the last 24 hours we've had 2 inches of rain here (at least). In one of the small, less rainy moments of the day I attempted some puddle jumping. Of course as soon as I got outside, got my rain gear, put the shoes on and set the camera up it was starting to rain a little heavier and a little heavier.  Cameras just aren't something you leave outside in the rain. Picture quality isn't great, but I did have fun!

15/365: flip-flops in waiting

I'm having a small case of cabin fever as far as these pictures go. With school I'm inside all day from darkness to darkness and thus a lot of my pictures have to be inside because it's winter.  It's raining buckets and buckets outside right now. All I want to do is slip on a pair of flip flops and go out in the sunshine.   I have a shoe rack in my laundry room for flip flops. It's usually full, but I was too lazy this morning to put the remaining pairs away before taking the picture.

14/365 Lockers

Tried movement again today. Sadly, my camera battery was running really low so I didnt get to play as much as I would have liked. I must say that I am really enjoying this project, and the projects I link to on the right side of the blog. It's so fun to see everyones photos, read the comments, and interact with y'all.

13/365: Mossy Boots

I managed to take a few pictures today (my shoes out to eat with me, at work etc), but I didn't really like them.  I'm not super jazzed about today's final photo either, but it was a good excuse to mess around with editing (sadly, that bright green couldn't be fixed and look anywhere near natural without going black and white).  This picture was taken on the walk up to my front door, it was dark out and thus the green moss is BRIGHT because of the flash.

12/365: New Shoes

That money that was ripping a hole in my pocket? Consider it spent.  This afternoon I found not one but three pairs of shoes that I couldn't live without. I can't wait to reveal them here, but I'll have to wear them first(you can at least get a taste from the boxes)! Today I was lazy and wore slippers all day.

11/365: Color Palette

I taught one of my favorite creative writing lessons today.  It involves a huge number of paint chips, and needless to say, there was a short period of time where they were all over the floor of my classroom, total chaos and a perfect photo op.

Shoes: Pony (had them a few years, and can't find a link to them anywhere online)

10/365: The Real Dorothy

In the book The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, Dorothy gains a pair of silver shoes to transport home. These shoes, originally owned by the Wicked Witch of the East became Dorothy's when a house landed on the witch.  In the 1939 movie however, the shoes were portrayed as ruby red, not silver. As you can see in my header, I have a ruby red pair, and as you can see by today's picture, I also have a silver pair.

There's no place like home...or grocery store parking lots (which is where this picture was taken).

9/365: Jump on It

Today I wore lazy clothes and shoes...it wasn't a lazy day (sadly), but my attire was that of someone that is either working out or hanging out. For my picture I wanted to try something different, I thought of a motion shot on the treadmill first. This was hard. I set the camera up on a timer to take the picture and did a few and they were just not right.  I decided to take my quest outside and just jump up and down. With limited light the flash makes the pictures look a little surreal, they aren't natural, light-wise.  I started with a side jump and then turned.  I took probably 20 blurry jumping pictures(see picture #1) before I got the one that looks like I'm levitating (picture #2).

8/365: Shoe Shopping

One of my favorite ways to spend a cold Saturday is shopping for shoes. Nordstrom is a favorite place to get and shop for shoes. Today I went with the some saved money and the intent of buying, alas when you have the money you can never find the shoes. So I'll have to trick myself into thinking I have zero to spend and then I will find the ones I want! That's basic shoe shopping law.  All the shoes I tried on were lovely, but I just didn't see a pair that I had to have.  The one pair I would have loved was not practical for teaching, and I have no idea where I would ever wear them. They were so silly that I didn't even try them on, and darn it, I didn't take a picture either but you can see them here.

7/365: Put your feet up

Last day of the work week, and after 4 days of 100 middle school students every day, all a person feels like doing is laying down on the couch in a dark room.  At least I remembered to take a picture before I took my shoes off!

Shoes: Naturalizer(yes, they're not just for old ladies) Ankle boots, size 9 narrow (really I do not have a narrow foot but they were 60% off and the only pair left when I bought them about 4 years ago, I figured a little pain was worth it)

6/365: 13 shoes in front of the door

When I walked through the door this evening I realized that I haven't really been putting things away this week.  There seems to be a shoe party going on in front of the door where I have taken off the shoes I wore that day and left them. I guess I know what I'm doing this weekend: Shopping! CLEANING!

5/365: Dark of the Matinee

Going to a movie before it's dark outside is to me one of life's greatest extravagances. It happens to be what I did after work today, made a beeline for the movie theatre.  I think it was the first matinee price I've paid in at least 2 years.  Hard to take a great photo in a dark room, and no pictures allowed before or during the movie so this is after. If you squint and use your imagination you can kind of make out the screen in the background.

4/365: Me Too

I'm really enjoying my journey thus far.  I'm already saving for a new camera, shoe pictures are basically all I can think about and it's only day 4.  Today I have 2 pictures with "issues" both based on the fact that I was using a point and shoot camera timer and running into place (see movement in bookcase picture), and relying on uneven ground or stairs (the line at the top is straight but the stairs are not?!).  I guess for every picture you like (see this picture from 2/365) a person takes thousands that don't strike their fancy.  The bookcase one had potential, but I rushed it. Rushing is never good for pictures. Lesson learned!

3/365: "Teacher Shoes"

Every teacher has a "go to" comfy pair of shoes. Today was my first day back to school after the winter holiday break.  I walked in my room and there were my back up shoes waiting under my desk for me, welcoming me back to school.

2/365: Bee Flip Flops

Heat wave today: 41 degrees and sunny! Couldn't resist the weather, had to get the flip flops out (rather silly, I realize, but that January sun was cold, and beckoning me to linger outside a little longer).

1/365: Black Glitter Ballet Flats

Happy New Year!

Today was a very unusual day for me, I only left the house to run to the store and thus my photo opportunities were rather boring. I decided to choose 2 pictures from the wee early hours of this morning, still celebrating the new year.  Photo one is in front of the Christmas tree (we keep it up through Jan 2).  My sister Sassy Shutter commented that she spent all day trying to find the perfect photo. Sheesh, if we keep this up, it's going to be a loooong year. I can only imagine that there will be easy shots and hard shots as time goes by.

Today's shoes: Size 9, black glitter BP 'Edie' ballet flats
